DALLE NOSTRE MANI
Ancient vineyards rich in history
Dalle Nostra Mani company has engaged a path of development and classification of the territory, which includes the preservation of Tuscan grapevine germplasm and also preserves the old vineyards abandoned.
We cultivate our vineyards without the use of herbicides, cutting the grass that grows along the rows of vines, without destroying the natural vegetation that lives on the soil.
Among the varieties we grow, Sangiovese is particularly outstanding, but there are also rare ancient varieties once destined to fall into oblivion, “relicts” of an oenological past rich in vine diversity, such as Foglia Tonda, Pugnitello, Abrostine, Bonamico and Abrusco.
We believe that “minor” native vines are what it takes to beat globalization, they represent an occasion to excel with unique, unrepeatable, strongly characterized products; especially for territories as rich in traditions and vine diversities as Tuscany.
All of our vineyards are managed following organic farming methods in accordance with the EU Regulation (EC) No.834/2007 and EU Regulation (EC) No.889/2008.
Vigna Pugnitello
Vineyard characterized by an ancient native vine: the Pugnitello. This precious variety of vines characterized the Tuscan countryside before the advent of intensive vineyards, it was widespread in the first half of the century when in Tuscany and Italy the cultivation of international vines did not exist. This variety was bred in promiscuous cultivation with other plants and needed pruning that allowed to renew the fruit head; Even today, the best forms of cultivation for this variety are those that tend to renew the animals that gave rise to the bunches. Its almost extinction on the territory was due to the fact that vines considered more valid from a productive and economic point of view have spread enormously to the detriment of minor varieties but not for this reason of little interest. The cluster that characterizes the Pugnitello is small and truncated conical, reminiscent of the shape of a clenched fist. It has a good vigor and a maturation contemporary to that of Sangiovese. The resulting wine, certainly rich in personality, is very intense in color with purple hues, full and particular taste, a wine full of surprises
Vigna Cerbaia
Ancient vineyard inscribed in the Chianti register characterized by 20400 square meters of surface planted in the mid-70s ‘. Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino enjoy excellent exposure and an ideal type of land for quality viticulture. Since 2008 the vineyard has been in organic conversion and the numerous failures present have been replaced with young Sangiovese vines.
Vigna Laitici
Vineyard of 4500 square meters planted in the 80s and characterized mainly by Trebbiano of early maturation. This vineyard has very long rows and healthy plants that have always been cultivated with great love and attention. Despite the proximity to the Fucecchio Marshes there are no problems with plant diseases that are normally favored in humid conditions, the soil is well exposed, ventilated and the grapes are rich in aromas with a sustained acidity.
Vigna Cesarina
Vineyard of 4000 square meters planted in the mid-60s and characterized mainly by vines of Trebbiano, Malvasia and San Colombano. The type of soil on which the plants live and feed is flat, of medium texture tending to sandy and particularly humid. In 2007 this vineyard underwent a drastic pruning both to reduce excess wood and eliminate the parts of the plant that are not very viable. The aim was to rejuvenate and increase the life of plants that can now benefit from new wood and rediscover the form of farming that has represented them for 30 years.
Vigna Cioni
Vineyard of 4000 square meters planted in the late 60s and characterized mainly by Sangiovese and Trebbiano. This vineyard is characterized by robust, generous vines and despite their age they have a remarkable vigor. The rows are narrow and long and for this reason it is not possible to carry out mechanical weeding on the row. The Tuscan upside down facilitates the high production per plant and for this reason in the most productive years we intervene with slight thinning of the excess bunches. The terrain is hilly, well-structured and hardly lacking in nutrients.
Vigna Felicina
Vineyard of 3500 square meters planted in the 80s and characterized mainly by Trebbiano vines. This vineyard is characterized by a particular terrorir that gives excellent aromas to the grapes but makes the ripening of Trebbiano slightly late. The type of soil on which the plants live and feed is lowland, medium-textured. The plants are characterized by low vigor and in the wine a great minerality is perceived.
Vigna Pugnitello vecchia
Vineyard characterized by an ancient native vine: the Pugnitello. This precious variety of vines characterized the Tuscan countryside before the advent of intensive vineyards, it was widespread in the first half of the century when in Tuscany and Italy the cultivation of international vines did not exist. This variety was bred in promiscuous cultivation with other plants and needed pruning that allowed to renew the fruit head; Even today, the best forms of cultivation for this variety are those that tend to renew the animals that gave rise to the bunches. The resulting wine, certainly rich in personality, is very intense in color with purple hues, full and particular taste, a wine full of surprises.
Vigna Imbimbo
Vineyard of about 4000 square meters planted in the mid-70s and characterized mainly by Sangiovese and Trebbiano vines. This vineyard is characterized by vines sensitive to downy mildew but which produce fragrant grapes with sustained acidity, excellent for giving freshness to white wine.
Vigna Vittorina
Vineyard of 3800 square meters planted in the late 60s and characterized mainly by vines of Trebbiano, Sangiovese, Abrostine, Pugnitello, Barsaglina. This vineyard was abandoned for about 3 years and was brought back into productivity in 2007 after strenuous and persistent agronomic pruning and weed control. Currently the vineyard is in good condition, the failures derived from the death of some vines have been replaced with new varieties of Sangiovese. The type of soil on which the plants live and feed is flat and ciliated between the rows; Evident clayey blocks alternate with the sand of the soil that once was the seabed. Even today it is possible to observe among the rows of the vineyard the presence of fossils of marine shells.
